Hello and welcome to my website. If you are new here and are someone who is learning about my back ground for the first time then I want to take a moment to explain what Road to Home campaign is about.
I am American living in Asia more specifically Macau and Hong Kong by default. I have a wife who currently lives and works in Macau and we have a 3 year old son.
Hong Kong and Macau are an hour apart by ferry ride, and before the pandemic I used to commute to Hong Kong for work related purposes. All of that changed for me and my family in February of 2020 when both Hong Kong, and Macau systematically closed their borders as a result of the COVID-19 situation. Needless to say, it left me stranded in Hong Kong with no way to gain entry into Macau again. It will be almost 2 years in February of 2022 since I have seen my wife and my son. My son is now 3 years of age.
Up until last year, China was not offering Visa’s to foreigners such as myself, but finally I was able to obtain one with conditions. In order for me to reunite with my wife and son, I am required to travel to China, specifically to the city of Zhuhai, a bordering city to Macau first. There I will have to quarantine for a period of 3 weeks where I will have to stay in a hotel at my expense. After this period time I will have to wait an additional 10 to 15 days to get approval before entering Macau. The cost of this is pretty expensive and primarily this is why I am trying to raise funds in order to pay for the, travel, hotel expenses and food.
Also in February of 2020, I had lost my job as a result of the COVID crisis, and I have been out of work since then. I have been getting by with the help of my friends, Church community as well as my supporters from my Film project titled “Hands of Hope.” In this time, I went through my savings, and my wife went into debt just to get things afloat while taking care of our son, her/our parents, and working at the same time, so things have not been easy on her, especially with very little financial support from me as I am trying to look for a job, look for solutions while at the same time dealing with the travel restrictions put into place by governments both here and at home.
What “Road to Home” campaign is trying to achieve is to raise $15,000 USD in order to pay for travel, hotel expenses, as well as bills such as rent, that I am past due on and desperately trying to get relief from the constant stress of trying to find solutions to this problem. My long term plan is to return to the USA in order to start work in order to start supporting my family. It will probably be awhile before I see them again while I try desperately to land on my feet by working again so I am really trying to see my son and my wife before that happens.
